It has been a very exciting 10 years since high school. I didn't know what I wanted to do career wise, so I decided to take some time off from college (which meant I never went back). I met my husband while I was trying to live in San Jose, CA; he was in town for work. We have been together since the first day we met. He is from Holland (the Netherlands), so 11 months after we started dating I moved to Holland to live with him. We got married in May 2004, and started saving to make the move back to the USA. We moved back to the US in December 2006 and made it down to Colorado in January 2008. We built a new house in Aurora, CO which we have lived in just over 1 year now. In April 2009, we are expecting our first child, a baby boy. We are very excited to be first time parents, though we feel like our dogs have been our children for the past 7+ years.Anything else that you want us to know about? I had the opportunity to see several countries while I was in Holland. I have been to the following countries: Holland, England, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand (we honeymooned here).

If you want to contact me, email me at: dawn@mail2denver.com
Parma High School Class of 1999http://www.blogger.com/profile/06062527178789118500noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1541667987014942242.post-27773032874160322122008-05-21T08:00:00.005-07:002009-02-20T06:28:57.492-08:00JJ Young
Name: JeAnna Young (JJ)

Where are you living? Pronounced as it is spelled. Unless you're from the south. In which case, don't try.

My apartment is in Charleston South Carolina, although I am currently in Groton Connecticut for the next four months.

After high school, I went to Phoenix for a trade school. I graduated, got a job working for the city of Phoenix on their buses. Well, I was at work when the towers fell and then drank with my buddy whose daughter was in them. So, I joined the Navy.

I enlisted in the Navy's Nuclear Propulsion program where I learned to boil water to push submarines. Which sounds cool and is fun for about an hour and then its all kinds of boring. Imagine looking at a TV screen that doesn't change for 6 hours, followed by working for another four to six hours. Repeat. Well, I decided to apply for a commissioning program and was accepted.

I went to Oregon State for three years and got my BS in Nuclear Engineering and a commission in the Navy in June. I'm currently going to Submarine Officers Basic Course where they teach the basics of driving the boat, tactics and all the fun stuff related to being in charge of a sub. Joy. I finish here in a couple months, go back to Charleston for 6 months and then find out where I go for three years. I'm hoping its going to be Guam.

No wife or kids for me. I'm enjoying being a single Sailor way too much. Its pretty much my definition of the perfect life. Everytime that I get bored living in a place, I get to move.

Unfortunately, there's no way that I can make it to the reunion since the chances are really good that I'll be on the other side of the Pacific. Sorry. Maybe the next one.

You can contact me here.Parma High School Class of 1999http://www.blogger.com/profile/06062527178789118500noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1541667987014942242.post-27609615886995661172008-05-21T08:00:00.000-07:002009-03-22T09:53:08.920-07:00Ashlea Thomas

NOW

Married Name: Ashlea Thiel (pronounced as Ashley Teal)

Where are you living? Norman, OK (30 mins south of Oklahoma City)

What did you do after high school? Got a job.

Did you go to college or a vo-tech school? Went to BSU for a year (2005).

What is your current job? QSpert

Where are you living? Coeur d’ Alene, ID

What did you do after high school? I guess you could say that I bounced around a little. I spent the first year after graduation in Lewiston, playing golf for LCSC. I then moved back to the valley for about a year to spend more time hunting birds, working as a substitute teacher in the Nampa School District (imagine that;-)), while also working at a golf course in Boise and attending TVCC. I then went and decided it was time to go back to school full-time and moved to Moscow to attend U of I. I was in Moscow until we got a chance to buy another insurance agency in Meridian, prompting me to make the decision to cut my education about 30 credits short and jump into the family business full time. I think those of you that knew me very well probably aren’t surprised at all to hear that I got sucked into the insurance world. So in January of 2003 I again returned to the treasure valley to manage our Meridian office and eventually bought a home in Nampa where I lived until February of 2006. In 2006 we got a chance to take over an agency in Beautiful Coeur d’ Alene, ID, which is where I still live and work today. While I was still attending college, and for some time after, I was able to spend quite a bit of time in Alaska, and even some time in Las Vegas. Since moving to CDA, I have got back into the golf world, which has been great for business networking in a new location. I have also found a few new hobbies, which I needed like a hole in the head, Elk hunting and bass fishing. While the Treasure Valley was a great place to grow up, I love where I live now and will probably never leave.

Did you go to college or a vo-tech school? If so, where? LCSC, BSU, TVCC, UofI .

Did you join a branch of the armed services? If so, which one? Where has it taken you? Nope, was almost a coastie once though.

What is your current job? What does it entail? Do you like it? I work as the office manager for the CDA office of Kuespert Insurance. My job entails, running the day to day of my office as well as taking care of the marketing and company relations for our other offices, and of course production of new business. I also serve on the board of directors for the Idaho Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers association. Caldwell, Idaho

What did you do after high school? The majority of my time has been spent going to school. I went to BSU, and I got my B.A. in Literature. After taking two years off from school, I returned to BSU where I finished my Master’s in Rhetoric and Composition (my particular focus is in Composition) in May of '08. I conducted an experiment for my thesis, and as part of my training I had to get certified to experiment on human subjects, so you all should be very, very afraid (and I like to threaten my students with that information!).

What is your current job? What does it entail? Do you like it?I teach English Composition at BSU. (After going there for so many years, I figured why not just hang around until they let me teach?) This is my second year teaching, and so far I’ve taught ENGL 90, 101, and 102. I have entirely way too much fun teaching, but I must admit that responding to 75 papers can be a bit overwhelming from time to time. Because of this, I’ve been incorporating more and more digital projects like websites, wikis, and blogs into my classes. And other than teaching, I also participate in other projects to keep me academically occupied. I’m currently working on a Technology Incentive Grant to fund a project that would allow me to create digital mini lessons for online teachers to incorporate in their classes. I’ve put other digital projects I’ve done on YouTube because I’ve found that students will watch just about anything if it’s on YouTube (even if it’s about research). I’ve just been granted an incredible opportunity for next year—I’ll be directing the Writing Center at BSU, and I’ll be teaching my first upper division course.

Has your family grown: married (when/who?), significant other's name?, kids (ages & names?), pets? I’ve been with my boyfriend, Nate, for about five years now. No kids. (But we do have a pit bull, Bob, and a lab mix, Iago, who think they’re people.) My brother Matt has two daughters, Morgan and Madeline, and I spend as much time with them as possible.

Narrative/story of what's been happening. My thesis has driven me to my ultimate goal—to be a teacher-researcher. I’m continually fascinated with new pedagogical theories, and I enjoy using my students (and my friends’ students) as guinea pigs, so I use my classroom as a testing ground for new ideas (particularly relating to technology). I’m currently working on my first article for publication, and it should be published in 2010. (The peer-review process is lengthy to say the least!) Other than that, not much else is going on. I’m going to use this next year as time to decide whether or not to go on for a Ph.D. I’m also using my spare time to help plan our class reunion! Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

You can contact me at: melissakeith@boisestate.edu.
Parma High School Class of 1999http://www.blogger.com/profile/06062527178789118500noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1541667987014942242.post-77496300970604625392008-05-21T07:00:00.001-07:002009-03-22T09:59:39.272-07:00Jody Hilliard
Name: Jody Hilliard

Where are you living? I'm currently working on finishing my BBA in economics at BSU. Man, I never really paid any attention in Behrman's class! Now that I think about it, I never really paid much attention in most of the classes!

What is your current job? What does it entail? Do you like it? I do all sorts of junk. I have a cat that I kind of inherited, her name is Cloe, but for the whole time I've had her (since Sept 08), I've called her that probably twice. My girlfriend is also living with me. No increase in family though.

Narrative/story of what's been happening.
Oh wow, I get to ramble. Well I think most of you can pretty much guess what has been going on in my life.
